More than 140 local business and government leaders gathered at Franklin Park Conservatory on August 13th to celebrate the completion of six projects financed by the Columbus-Franklin County Finance Authority (CFFA). Fulfilling its role as a key public-private funding organization in Central Ohio, the CFFA highlighted the projects designed to bring new life to a Columbus neighborhood, keep businesses viable in a sluggish economy, and provide new jobs for the area.
Projects featured at the breakfast celebration included Franklin Park Conservatory, Harrison West, OCLC, RASTRA, Prep Academies, and Dancor. Sharing the highlights of the projects as well as the scope of services offered by the CFFA were Marilyn Brown, Franklin County Commissioner, Mike Reese, Chief of Staff for Mayor Michael Coleman, Anne Boninsegna, Chief Operating Officer of the Franklin Park Conservatory, Jules Garel, Chair of the CFFA Board of Directors, and Jean Carter Ryan, Executive Director of the CFFA. The varied projects demonstrate the ability of the CFFA to work with a diverse group of clients that includes small manufacturers, non-profit organizations and large businesses. The six Central Ohio projects will be making capital investments of over $45.5 million and create over 140 new jobs.
Commissioner Brown and Mike Reese also presented Past Chair Mike McMennamin proclamations from Mayor Coleman and the Franklin County Commissioners. Mike McMennamin recently stepped down as Chairman of the Board after serving as chair for two years during the start-up of the organization. Mike put in countless hours, organizing teams to put in place all of the necessary infrastructure, including leading the organization prior to the hiring of staff.
